DDS direct-drive steering system is designed to replace hydraulic steering systems. IP67-rated intelligent electric system reportedly provides increased uptime, quieter operation, reduced maintenance, and less energy use. DDS linear actuator has maximum stroke to 160 mm (6.3 in.) at up to 75 mm/s (2.95 in./s) at nominal force, with maximum force to 14 kN (3,147 lb). The linear shaft is rated for total travel of >600 km (372 miles), or up to 1.6-million full-stroke cycles. Resolution of 0.4 mm is attainable. Configurable ac drive facilitates adjustment of performance parameters. When used in conjunction with electric traction systems, it improves drivability, safety, and stability by controlling traction speed based on load and steering angle. www.danahermotion.com Danaher Motion
