Motor label indicates energy cost savings

Energy guide labels for electric motors highlight energy cost and potential savings from using premium-efficiency motors. The label lists the type and speed of the motor to which it is attached and provides a comparison of the motor’s rating to the rating of an average installed motor. It also estimates annual savings of the motor, as well as the cost of electricity to run it continuously. Baldor Electric Co.; www.baldor.com

Washdown motor endures daily cleaning

The ToshWash SS stainless steel washdown-duty motor features a smooth stainless steel shell and the ability to endure daily high-pressure cleaning with hot cleaning agents. It is available from fractional to 5 hp, and features a 3-hp model without an external cooling fan. There is no fan or shroud to trap process residue and no nameplate — product information is etched directly into the frame. Toshiba International Corp., Industrial Products Div.; www.tic.toshiba.com

Motor starters install without tools

TeSys D-Line motor starters and contactors allow for up to 50% reduction in installation time, 80% less wiring, and 30% less space. No tools are required for assembly/connection. Connections are established via direct link to PLCs or networks. The control and power wiring terminations are color coded, reducing the risk of miswired connections. Preformed wire jumpers further enhance user safety. Square D/Schneider Electric, Motor Control Div.; www.SquareD.com

Motor rides through power sags

The Power-Ride 70-hp two-pole motor is a three-phase, Written-Pole motor with a high-inertia rotor. It starts with very low starting current, then runs synchronously at unity power factor with high efficiency. It rides through power interruptions to 15 sec and easily restarts and reaccelerates to full speed. It also features low harmonic input and high starting torque/amp. Ac motors replace dc motors

The MicroMAX line of low-horsepower, ac inverter duty motors is designed to replace a permanent magnet dc (PMDC) motor, while requiring virtually no maintenance. Available from stock in1/ 4 -3 hp, the C face motors use the same mounting configurations as their PMDC counterparts. When equipped with a PWM scalar drive, up to a 30% cost savings can be realized. Motor load monitor measures shaft power

The Digital Load Monitor measures a motor’s rotor shaft power. It measures the actual motor load for a 3-sec interval, then automatically sets an alarm level. It has three monitors in one — overload, underload, and an over and underload. The prealarm provides an alarm before the main alarm actuates to prevent unnecessary process interruptions.
