Emerson awarded $35 million automation contract by DC Water & Sewer Authority

Pittsburgh, PA - Emerson Process Management announced on September 30 that its Power & Water Solutions division, formerly Westinghouse Process Control, has entered into a contract with the District of Columbia Water & Sewer Authority (DCWASA) to modernize process control systems throughout the facility's water and wastewater infrastructure.

Pittsburgh, PA - Emerson Process Management announced on September 30 that its Power & Water Solutions division, formerly Westinghouse Process Control, has entered into a contract with the District of Columbia Water & Sewer Authority (DCWASA) to modernize process control systems throughout the facility's water and wastewater infrastructure. DCWASA serves 2.1 million people in a 725-sq. mi. area that includes the District of Columbia and nearby Maryland and Virginia suburbs.

Under the terms of the contract, Emerson will engineer and install three Ovation Information & Control systems for DCWASA. One system will control operations at the Blue Plains treatment facility. The Blue Plains facility is said to be the largest advanced wastewater treatment facility in the world, covering 150 acres with a peak capacity of 370 million gal/day. The other two will monitor DCWASA's water distribution channel and wastewater collection system.
