Dubai, United Arab Emirates – With some fanfare, David N. Farr, Emerson 's chairman, chief executive officer, and president, helped celebrate the official opening of its new regional headquarters in Dubai. This investment shows the conglomerate’s desire to cement its relationship with the region and energy industry.

Farr made the trip to attend the opening and to meet with senior executives of the oil and gas companies in Qatar and Kuwait. Meetings also included local government officials interested in Emerson’s ongoing investment plans in those areas. The scale of its business is growing: In its fiscal 2008, Emerson posted sales of $868 million in the Middle East region, and the company hopes to surpass $1 billion in the near future.

The new regional headquarters is located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai. The 130,000 square foot facility has office and light manufacturing space for its 300+ employees. Emerson will assemble and test its products for customers throughout the Middle East and Africa. Divisions represented include: Emerson Process Management , Emerson Network Power, Emerson Industrial Automation, Emerson Professional Tools, Emerson Climate Technologies, and Emerson Storage Solutions.

Emerson has also been making significant investments in Qatar, where it has a long-term agreement as the preferred supplier of automation technologies and services to Qatargas, one of the world’s leading producers of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Last year it opened an office in Doha and now has more than 40 resident
