Emerson helping modernize nine plants in Europe's largest petrochemical complex

Emerson Process Management reports that it's been selected by Russian chemical giant Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNH) to modernize the largest petrochemical complex in Europe. The nine-plant complex in Tatarstan, in western Russia, manufactures 60% of the nation's styrene and resins, which are basic components in thousands of Russian products.

Emerson Process Management reports that it's been selected by Russian chemical giant Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNH) to modernize the largest petrochemical complex in Europe. The nine-plant complex in Tatarstan, in western Russia, manufactures 60% of the nation's styrene and resins, which are basic components in thousands of Russian products. The complex also manufactures all of Russia's polyether, which is used mostly for plastic auto parts. The polyether plant is a joint venture with BASF.

Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture already is installed and activated in two of the plants, which reportedly improved productivity by 12% at the styrene plant, increased yield by 5% at the polyether plant, and improved overall reliability. Yield at the polyether plant, which previously experienced a nearly 5% rejection rate, reportedly has had no rejections or quality issues since installing PlantWeb.
