Emerson Global Users Exchange, held earlier this month in Orlando, considered the changing process industry picture around the world as growth slows in emerging markets and has returned to North America. In his opening remarks to the 3,000+ attendees, Steve Sonnenberg, president of Emerson Process Management, talked about how the scale of projects is going up. New plants and expansions that involve more than 100,000 I/O points and tens-of-thousands of people are expanding our notion of what a main automation contractor does. Individual projects that cross the $1 billion barrier are now almost commonplace, and those kinds of undertakings are returning to our shores.

In the video, Sonnenberg discusses how Emerson is responding to these new demands, and how it is dealing with demographic changes for itself and for its customers.
