Emerson sells Brooks Instrument, buys The Automation Group

Emerson on Jan. 9 announced that it acquired The Automation Group (TAG) of Houston, TX, for an undisclosed amount. On Jan. 3 Emerson announced sale of Brooks Instrument to American Industrial Partners for about $100 million.


St. Louis, MO — Emerson announced on Jan. 9 that it acquired The Automation Group (TAG) of Houston, TX, for an undisclosed amount. Separately, on Jan. 3, Emerson announced sale of Brooks Instrument to American Industrial Partners for about $100 million.

TAG becomes part of Emerson Process Management, expanding Emerson’s capabilities for providing technical and management services for the design, engineering and implementation of process automation systems for the refinery, petrochemical, oil and gas production and other industries. Emerson on Jan. 3 said it sold its Brooks Instrument unit on Dec. 31, 2007, to American Industrial Partners Capital Fund IV L.P. (AIP) for approximately $100 million in cash.
