The Vortec/ITW Air Management Vortex A/C cooling system for electrical enclosures is a quiet (62 dBA) alternative to air-conditioning. Three models deliver 900, 1,500, or 2,500 Btuh of refrigeration reportedly at a fraction of the size and cost of an air conditioner. Patent-pending design integrates a thermostat to maintain enclosure temperatures of 80-90 °F (27-32 °C), is suitable for NEMA Type 4 and 4X rated electrical cabinets, and will provide reliable cooling in environments to 175 °F (79 °C). UL-listed product requires a com-pressed air supply to operate and quickly installs in a 1.5-in. knockout hole. Maintenance-free units incorporate vortex tube technology to convert filtered compressed air into a low-pressure, refrigerated air stream distributed throughout the enclosure.
