Durapulse Series sensorless vector—plus closed-loop control—ac drives now expand AutomationDirect's offerings in this category with a product reportedly so easy to set up that 'experienced users don't need to read the manual.' Default values are set for the U.S. industrial market. Available in 1 to 100-hp models, these drives provide 175% starting torque, 150% rated current for one minute, automatic torque and slip compensation, internal dynamic braking circuit (models under 20 hp), three analog inputs, one analog output, programmable I/Os (11 digital in; 3 out, plus 1 relay), among other features. The drive's PWM output is controlled by a microprocessor with frequencies from 0.1 to 400 Hz.

An intuitive LCD programming keypad complements the drive. It features real language parameter groupings, stores up to four application programs, and is removable for remote mounting to ease data and parameter access. Durapulse Series drives also feature RS-485 Modbus serial interface and an Ethernet option via the company's GS-EDRV Ethernet module, which allows access to Modbus TCP/IP or a built-in Web server. The UL/CE-listed drives come with a two-year replacement warranty. Prices range from $289 to $3,999.
