Sola/Hevi-Duty’s new SCP-X power supply for extreme environments resists dust, water, and other contaminants. Stand-alone unit can be mounted directly on a machine, eliminating the need for a sepa-rate cabinet and simplifying I/O device cabling.

Sola/Hevi-Duty’s new SCP-X extreme environment power supply delivers 24 V dc power from a machine-mounted IP67-compliant package that is resistant to dust, water, and other contaminants. Stand-alone unit can be mounted on a machine, reducing end-user costs by eliminating the need for a separate cabinet and simplifying I/O device cabling. Metal outer case withstands physical abuse and dissipates heat to deliver consistent power from -40 to 60°C.

SCP-X is suitable for sensors, relays, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators, valves, and communications devices such as Ethernet hubs. Thermal management is accomplished through passive convection cooling; no fans are needed. Unit is 4.7-in. high x 7-in. wide x 1.8 in. deep and weighs just over 2.5 lb. Housing is constructed of die-cast aluminum for resistance to 3 g shock. Power supply provides IP65, IP66, and IP67 ingress protection and meets NEMA 4X enclosure standards. It can be mounted in any orientation with chassis mounting tabs.

SCP-X comes with standard DIN mini connections. Adapters are available to connect to other styles. Multiple devices can be operated from a single unit maintaining the Class 2 output power rating if continuous power consumption does not exceed 94 W (3.8 A at 24 V dc). Unit delivers full-rated power across ambient temperatures from -40 to 60° C. Prices start at $287. Shipping is scheduled to begin in early summer.
