Exider displays aim to excite visitors about automation potential

Control Engineering toured the interactive Exider exhibit just prior to the official North American opening at National Manufacturing Week, Feb. 23.


An introduction invites visitors to clear their minds before exploring the potential of Siemens automation, from front-end engineering and design to process optimization. Forward-looking concepts aim to help customers stay ahead of competition in any industry.


Process automation—from process instrumentation and analytical measurements to distributed control and safety systems, solutions are based on solid technology with proven success, the company says. Networking and fieldbus capabilities are said to permit viewing of the entire process at any level.


Totally Integrated Automation is "Your vision, our technology, working together" to achieve higher manufacturing speeds, tighter machine integration, safer production environments, 24/7 operations, and more, the company says.


A golf ball factory presentation shows the flexibility of Siemens’ automation systems, from concept, swinging through production. Siemens products and systems can make plant operations more flexible, productive, and ready for future changes. Areas covered include engineering tools, controls, and human-machine interface.


Machine builders, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can develop better machines faster and at lower cost by working with Siemens from initial concepts through the applied solutions. A complete line of electrical and automation components for machines includes "Safety Integrated" products, what Siemens suggests may be the largest product line for industrial safety technology anywhere in the world. Machine builder experience includes plastic machines, cycle cleaning, filling machines, packaging machines, textile machines, machine tools, and printing machines.


Siemens extends its Totally Integrated Automation to power delivery and management, by offering the breadth of related offerings in "Totally Integrated Power." The company projects cost-savings through single-sourcing present and future power-related needs: medium- and low-voltage switchgear, power-distribution products, power-monitoring systems, building management systems, as well as service and support. Any facility can benefit, Siemens suggests, but especially new or retrofit construction of pharmaceutical facilities, residential homes, higher education, healthcare, or financial facilities.


Distribution channels include Siemens national sales group, consulting support group, more than 3,000 distributors, and hundreds of system integrators. Customer support is offered "24-7-365."
