Field instrumentation device communicator adds valve diagnostics

Emerson has released its 475 Field Communicator 3.2, which includes the new ValveLink Mobile application. The company says this allows users to access predictive diagnostics from Fisher Fieldvue digital valve controllers in the field and transfer the results to AMS Suite predictive maintenance application, for in-depth analysis and documentation. The communicator provides universal support for all HART, WirelessHART, and Foundation fieldbus devices. With an intrinsically safe rating, it can be used anywhere in the plant. Following a task-based approach to the human interface, ValveLink Mobile is said to simplify access to data with minimal clicks of the touch screen and the use of flick, zoom in, and zoom out features. Users can follow instructions to setup and calibrate valves and run diagnostics such as stroke valve, step response, and valve signature on the entire valve assembly.
