Fieldbus Foundation offers podcast download on applications

End users describe system upgrades, operational improvements

The Fieldbus Foundation has released of a podcast describing fieldbus end user experiences in the process industries. Titled “Changing the Playing Field with FOUNDATION Technology,” the podcast is hosted by Control Engineering magazine. It can be downloaded from the foundation’s website at

The Fieldbus Foundation podcast concerns the implementation of a fieldbus-based automation infrastructure enabling new levels of operational excellence. The podcast describes how FOUNDATION fieldbus unifies open scalable integration, process integrity, and business intelligence as part of a single, plant-wide managed infrastructure.

Podcast interviews include:

  • Darrol Weiss, City of Calgary, with information on

  • Chuck Hartshorn, Reichhold Inc.,

  • Denny Fetters, Croda, describing the replacement of a legacy Distributed Control System with FOUNDATION technology. Fieldbus devices were installed in a hazardous Class 1, Div. 2 area using the Fieldbus Non-Incendive Concept (FNICO).

  • Doug Dalton, Memphis Zoo, describing how intelligent motor control and digital fieldbus technologies were employed as part of an HVAC system used to control water and air quality in the zoo’s wildlife exhibit.
