Fisher-Rosemount recently contracted with ARCO-Alaska Inc. to install the world’s first F OUNDATION Fieldbus on an oil production site at ARCO’s West Sak facility on Alaska’s North Slope. Expected to begin this past December, the project’s initial phase includes 50 oil wells. The wells’ operations will be assisted by Fisher-Rosemount’s PlantWeb solution. Equipment installed at the site includes Rosemount fieldbus transmitters, Fisher Fieldvue valves, Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters, El-O-Matic fieldbus actuators, and a Fisher-Rosemount Systems’ DeltaV process automation system. F-R’s application will help ARCO’s technicians remotely diagnose instrumentation problems, and the DeltaV automation system’s scalability will be able to grow as ARCO adds more production wells.
