Flanged seals protect instrumentation from aggressive fluids

Keep difficult process fluids where they belong while reducing the need for instrumentation made from exotic materials.

When aggressive process fluids or conditions are more than standard pressure sensors can handle, Baumer’s flanged chemical seal family protects instrumentation, your process, and people while facilitating measurements.

In situations where your process conditions are severe, including aggressive, corrosive, viscous, heterogeneous, toxic, or very hot or cold fluids, these chemical seals offer protection for your sensors, while protecting the process from outside contamination or accidental release. Baumer’s D820, D824 and D825 flanged chemical seals offer a wide variety of diaphragm materials and fill liquids to operate with most potential process fluids and temperatures.

The seal assembly consists of a flexible diaphragm, clamped or welded between two rigid flanges. The space between the diaphragm and the pressure measuring device contains a fill liquid which transfers process pressure to the measuring device. Diaphragm materials include stainless steel, Uranus, Hastelloy, tantalum, titanium, and Monel. Additionally, diaphragms can be coated with PTFE, Halar, or gold. The flange facing and the diaphragm are made of the same material. Various fill liquids cover process temperatures from -60 to 400 °C.

For food and pharmaceutical applications, Baumer pays special attention to the surface finish of diaphragms and welds. The surface roughness of diaphragms is normally 0.8
