Flowmeter: New magnetic flowmeter series offers exceptional accuracy

By Control Engineering Staff May 17, 2007

Magnetic flowmeters have many advantages. They’re compact, don’t restrict flow, economical, and generally easy to deal with. However, the conventional wisdom is that if you need very high precision, another technology (for instance, Coriolis) is required. Emerson Process Management has now introduced a series of magnetic flowmeters that add higher accuracy to the list of benefits.

The Rosemount E-series offers improved reference accuracy, intelligent diagnostics, and general reliability. With accuracy of

Rosemount’s patented 8714i calibration verification diagnostic allows users to verify calibration without shutting down the process or needing complicated external equipment. This reduces the time and cost associated with calibration verification while providing documentation for record keeping.

Internal diagnostics also optimize signal stability even in the noisiest applications. A high process noise alarm alerts users when variability is caused by noise and not actual flow variation. This allows for adjustment to a higher coil drive frequency to stabilize the output without additional damping.
