Deepwater flowmeter from Solartron ISA includes a retrievable instrument pack that permits the removal and replacement of DP transmitters using a remotely operated vehicle.

Shildon, County Durham, UK— Retrievable instrument pack from Solartron ISA , a business unit of Ametek Process & Analytical Instruments, lets operators remove and replace differential pressure (DP) transmitters using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). System typically consists of a flowmeter, seven-valve manifold, inboard plate, and outboard instrument pack including DP transmitters. First units, including water injection and gas injection flowmeters, are currently in use in a deep-water project in offshore Nigeria.

Each instrument pack comes with 2 DP transmitters for redundancy to allow operators to continue measurement using a single transmitter until retrieval/replacement of the instrument pack can be handled as a routine intervention. ROV instrument pack is suitable for water depths of 3,000 m (10,000 ft). Necessary ROV tooling can be rented or purchased. Options include hot stab methanol injection for flushing through the impulse pipe work from the inboard plate to the flowmeter.

The company, which designs and manufactures flow measurement devices for the oil and gas industry, will provide installation requirements for optimum configuration based on project needs.
