Sealing cord

One of the newest methods available for sealing the threads of pipes and fittings isn't an adhesive or tape, it's Loctite 55 Pipe sealing cord. The cord is a noncuring, coated, multifilament thread that is wound directly into the threads of the pipe to quickly and effectively seal against air or liquid leaks. The cord allows up to 1/4 turn reverse adjustment after assembly. Loctite Corp. loctite.com Write 304 on PE card

Booster pump

MiniBooster systems are compact, easy-to-install and maintain pump packages for applications where sufficient main pressure is not available or elevation is a problem. The booster is available in one and two-pump packages, with simplex capacities from 20 gpm to 110 gpm at a boost of 20 psig to 55 psig, and duplex capacity that can reach 220 gpm. Pump foundation

Polyshield Baseplate and Foundation System is designed from a polymer mix using epoxy resins. The system combines into one complete unit the traditional baseplate and formed concrete foundation for pump-driver sets. With its unique design, the system is claimed to be superior to metal baseplates and concrete foundations for pump installations. Flowserve Corp. Pump Div. flowserve.com Write 306 on PE card

Plastic couplings

Cam-operated couplings are easier to handle than metal versions. Nylon or polypropylene types are corrosion-resistant and prevent thread seizure. Temperature uses range from 10 F to 180 F. Pressures range from 75 psi to 125 psi, depending on size. Sizes available are A, B, C, D, E, F, DP, and DC. Nylon sizes range from 1/4 in. to 4 in. Polypropylene sizes range from 1/2 in. to 3 in. Super steam trap

SH (SuperHeat) Steam Traps virtually eliminate steam loses and their associated energy waste. The traps are maintainable due to the easily accessible internals, which significantly reduce the requirement for replacement of the entire trap. Benefits include three-point seating for a steam tight seal with superheated steam and up to a 2285-psig hydraulic shock rating. TLV Corp. tlv.com Write 308 on PE card

Rugged pump

A brochure on 400HP API 610 pumps provides insight into the LMV-341, which incorporates single throat hydraulics with a 400-hp gearbox. This feature results in lower minimum flows, thereby extending the operating range of the pump. Key features listed are large, high-speed journal bearings and high-speed shaft with integral gear and balanced idler shaft with sleeved bearings. Sundyne Corp. sundyne.com Write 309 on PE card

Valve actuators

V-Series electric actuators for quarter-turn valves and dampers are detailed in a catalog that includes an overview of products, specifications, accessories, options, and electrical diagrams. Actuator features include standard 75% duty cycle, visual position indicator, dual conduit openings, and locked rotor stall protection.
