Focus on electrical safety measures during National Electrical Safety Month

The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) is taking things back to the basics to ensure a fundamental understanding of electrical safety during National Electrical Safety Month.

This month is National Electrical Safety Month. Each May, this month of heightened awareness aims to increase public awareness around electrical safety and serves as a reminder of simple measures people of every age and profession can take to improve their electrical safety.

It is also a great time to be reminded of the dangers of counterfeit electrical products and serves as a refresher on how to avoid and identify such products.

In celebration of National Electrical Safety Month, the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) is taking things back to the basics to ensure a fundamental understanding of electrical safety, including collaborating with Eaton to build awareness among key audiences about counterfeit products and the dangers they pose in residential and industrial settings, as well as their adverse economic impact.

Included in ESFI’s campaign resources is an illustrated fact sheet that provides consumers with tips on avoiding counterfeit electrical products. For ESFI’s complete collection of National Safety Month resources, visit www.esfi.org/NESM.

Raising awareness about electrical hazards, including the dangers of counterfeit electrical products, is pivotal in reducing home electrical fires, injuries and even death. By working together to spread awareness of electrical safety, we can reduce the number of electrically-related deaths and injuries.
