Free form sensor systems from Sensor Products LLC, part of the Tactilus line of dynamic electronic pressure mapping systems, include up to 16 sensing points in a variety of sizes and shapes.

Free form sensor systems expand Sensor Products’ Tactilus line of dynamic electronic pressure mapping systems. The systems consist of up to 16 sensing points that can detect pressures up to 60 psi (4.21 kg/sq cm), simple electronics, and a USB interface. Sensors can be used independently or assembled in a matrix for movement from one application to another without the need for a new system. Free form sensor systems are suitable for a variety of uses, including biomechanics, PCB manufacture and polishing, clamping, door seals, heat seals, LCD bonding, switches, and lamination.

Accompanying Microsoft Windows-based Tactilus software allows direct pressure readings without calibration and pressure-versus-time tracking, allowing actual real-time analysis of two contacting surfaces. Sensor Products will customize the software to display matrix configurations defined by the client. Data may be exported to most third-party software.

Tactilus Free Form sensing systems are multi-channel tactile surface sensing points equipped with components necessary to collect data for comprehensive analysis. Sensors are customizable from 0.04 x 0.04 in. (1 x 1 mm) and are said to offer consistent repeatability and be highly resistant to electromagnetic noise, temperature, and humidity fluctuations. They are conformable to curvaceous surfaces and durable for use in tough environments.
