Encirq Corp. , a leading provider of high-performance data management solutions for embedded systems, announced at the recent Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) in Orlando, FL, its intent to work with Freescale Semiconductor to deliver an integrated solution to simplify development of sophisticated automotive applications while helping to reduce risk and cost. The company’s flagship data management product—called Encirq Data Foundation Framework (DFF)—will be used to support Freescale’s MPC5200 processors. The objective is to accelerate development of intelligent automotive applications, from driver information and navigation systems to instrument cluster control to telematics control units, says Encirq.

Freescale MPC5200 processors offer manufacturers a powerful hardware platform that can unite in-car navigation and infotainment applications. Encirq Framework supplies the basis for developing complex software that fuels these applications. At the same time, DFF enables new data-driven software capabilities and services, according to Encirq.

The Foundation Framework is said to greatly simplify creation of automotive applications. It reduces complexity, automates data management source-code generation, and provides an efficient runtime environment. DFF helps automotive manufacturers to:

  • Cut development time/costs by more than 30%;

  • Improve application quality, flexibility, and portability;

  • Reduce memory usage and optimize system resource usage; and

  • Increase engineering capacity, while enabling innovative data-driven software capabilities, services, and user experiences.

Encirq Data Foundation Framework reportedly works with virtually any development style or architectural approach. It supports a wide range of commercial development environments, target hardware platforms, and major automotive real-time operating systems—including Freescale Linux, QNX Neutrino , and Wind River VxWorks .
