New gigabit Ethernet switch from Moxa Technologies Inc. is intended for industrial applications. EDS-510A next generation switch, which meets European Union RoHS standards, is a standalone DIN-rail mounted 7+3G-port managed redundant device that includes 7, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports and 3 gigabit Ethernet ports. Two of the gigabit ports can be used for network redundancy and the third as an uplink port.

EDS-510A supports intelligent network management functions, including QoS, IGMP snooping/GMRP, VLAN, port trunking, SNMP V1/V2c/V3, IEEE 802.1X, and https/SSL. A gigabit Ethernet redundant turbo ring (recovery time &300 ms) increases reliability and network backbone speed. Device also comes with rapid spanning tree protocol (IEEE 802.1W) that enables system maintenance to set up a versatile, stable network. Quality of Service (QoS) provides a traffic prioritization capability to ensure consistent, predictable data delivery.

The switch provides IEEE 802.1D-1998 DMRP and IGMP snooping to reduce the amount of traffic on the Ethernet LAN. It also supports VLAN technology, which can be used to segment a network without being restricted by physical connections. IEEE 802.3ad (LACP) adds flexible network connections and a redundant path for critical devices. SNMP V1/V2c/V3 offers different levels of management, and RMON (remote network monitoring) allows various network agents and console systems to exchange network monitoring data. In addition, IEEE 802.1X and https/SSL are available to enhance network security. www.moxa.com
