Chicago, Ill.— Methode Optoelectronic Products has announced its new MGLM-1063 Gigabit Link Module, a fiber channel-compliant full duplex fiber-optic link. This module extends the minimum transmission distance on single-mode optical fiber up to 10 km—compared to only 2 km on other units. Methode’s MGLM-1063 provides low-cost bi-directional communication at bit rates up to 1.0625 Gbit/sec. Operating from a single 5 V supply and consuming only 2.8 W, it provides a 20-bit wide bus to transfer data encoded using the 8B/10B encoding scheme specified by the Fiber Channel Standard. It is equipped with an SC duplex fiber-optic connector for easy integration into a wide range of systems. Methode Electronics Inc.
