Global Display Solutions Ltd . (GDS), a designer and manufacturer of industrial display solutions for a variety of industries, is opening a new manufacturing site in Arad, Western Romania, the company announced recently. GDS chose the location for GDS manufacturing Services SA because of the economic benefits it offers, allowing the company to develop a cost-effective and competitive operation.

The site will be used to produce subassemblies (electronic boards) and consists of three assembly lines: a surface mount technology line, a pin-in-hole line, and an automated line for manual assembly with a wave solder. Although the manual assembly of the boards is being transferred to this site, automated, technological production of subassembly components will remain in Italy.

The new plant employs 50 people and is helping contribute to the regeneration of the region. It is part of a transport network at the heart of central Europe, served by rail and motorway links and located near a growing international airport. It is situated in the Area Free Trade Enterprise Zone, one of six such zones established by the Romanian government.

Luca Bisognin, GDS sales and marketing manager, points out that the new site fits into the company’s long-term strategy to provide cost-effective display solutions to all key global markets. He says: “The opening of this latest facility demonstrates our ongoing commitment to manufacturing high-quality products whilst driving down costs.”
