GTT licenses Deep Video Imaging display technology


Hamilton, New Zealand - Deep Video Imaging , creator and developer of Multi-Layer Displays (MLD) bringing depth to the desktop, announced July 11 that GTT (Kyounggi-do, Korea) has become the latest manufacturer under license to integrate the technology into its desktop monitor solutions.

Under the terms of the agreement, GTT will manufacture MLD monitors in Korea under license, while actively promoting and distributing the technology through its sales channel in Asia. GTT will pay a royalty on each unit manufactured. Deep Video Imaging will private label as well as promote GTT solutions to third-party OEM's.

GTT has specialized in value-added LCD monitor sales since 1996, primarily utilizing LG.Philips LCD display substrates. GTT is a full service display manufacturer with 15,000/month capacity and in-house electronics design and fabrication facilities.

''Depth is inevitably going to replace flat screen technology just as color replaced black and white and stereo replaced mono. Our customers demand the latest technology and increased productivity,'' said K. Koo, president, GTT. ''We are confident in the technology and are pleased to be able to offer our customers the additional value of a multi-layer display.''

Under warranty and support from its offices in Korea, Taiwan, and California, GTT will use its existing sales channels outside of the US and work with Deep Video Imaging distribution into the US. GTT's largest markets are Korea and Japan where it third-party labels for Toshiba into the Japanese financial and industrial markets.

David Hancock, Deep Video Imaging president and ceo commented, ''GTT is the ideal candidate for our first desktop computer monitor manufacturer. They are well situated in the Korean and Japanese markets and compliment our offering to third party OEM's for private labeling.''

Both companies plan for an 18.1-in. MLD to be released during the first half of 2003 for OEM and private label.
