Hannover, Germany— Mitsubishi Electric reports that its industrial personal computers (IPCs) are geared to the needs of industrial automation applications, and provide control, operation and process visualization functionality for plant and machinery. The new IPC2000 series was exhibited at Hannover Fair 2005 in both Eco Panel and Business Panel versions, complementing the company’s existing HMI control and display panels.

The compact Eco Panels have all the normal interfaces and are available in two sizes, with 12.1-in. and 15-in. touch panels. They are powered by an Intel Celeron processor running at 650MHz or an Intel Pentium III processor running at 933MHz. Mitsubishi adds that the fanless Eco Panels are particularly well suited as stand-alone solutions for compact applications.

The Business Panel versions can be expanded with PCI cards. They are available with 15-in. and 17-in. screens, and in touchscreen and key-operated versions. The standard processor for the Business Panels is the Intel Celeron running at 1,200 MHz, while

An additional front USB port, two PCI slots, a floppy disk drive and a CD-ROM drive are all included in the standard package. The Business Panels can also be configured as a distributed solution with the PC in a switchgear cabinet and a separate screen unit. This configuration variant requires an optional expansion kit with mounting panels and a special extension cable. All the signals and the power supply required by the computer’s screen unit are transported via a single cable, which can be up to 15 meters long.
