ProComSol upgrades DevCom2000 software so it can trend any parameter from a field device transmitter.ProComSol, Ltd has released rev. 4.7 of its DevCom2000 Smart Device Communicator Software for HART instrumentation. This revision adds a trending feature which allows users to trend the parameters of HART devices. According to Jeffrey Dobos, president of ProComSol, “The new trending feature will enable users to trend process variables as well as any other parameter associated with the device. This feature will provide valuable information to users as they configure or troubleshoot the performance of transmitters and control valves.”

Other improvements in the new revision include the ability to add additional DD’s (device descriptors) to the software and improved multi-drop configuration capability. The DevCom2000 software comes pre-loaded with all of the DD’s currently registered with the HART Communication Foundation. This enables users to deploy the system right out of the box without the need to download DD’s from various instrumentation suppliers. Devices that are registered in the HART catalog after the software is purchased can be added as necessary.

The improved multi-drop capability is important for users employing some of the new WirelessHART adapters on the market. Many of these adapters support transmitters in a multi-drop configuration in order to make the installation more economical. The improved multi-drop capability makes it easy to configure the WirelessHART adapters and associated transmitters.
