The Lee Co.’s Technical Centers in Essex and Westbrook, CT, have developed the Series 120 solenoid valve, said to be the “world’s smallest.”

Magnetically latched solenoid-valve features high-performance flow-switching characteristics and is said to be ideal for compact battery powered pneumatic applications, such as air piloting, lab automation (lab-on-a-chip), and other power-sensitive, OEM flow-switching devices. It needs only a 1 ms pulse to switch the state of the valve: +5 V dc to open; and -5 V dc to close. The company says that it is well suited for compact battery-powered pneumatic applications. It measures 0.12-in. O.D. x 0.40-in. long and weighs only 300 mg.

Lee warranties the quality of its valves, and will promptly repair or replace them within a four-year period, or the products’ published cycle life, whichever is less.
