High-, premium-efficiency SEW Eurodrive motors
SEW Eurodrive high-efficiency DRE motors are available from 1 hp to 300 hp, and Premium Efficiency/IE3 (NEMA Premium) DRP motors range from 1 hp to 50 hp, to meet international energy efficiency standards. This is a January 2010 Control Engineering North American print edition Product Exclusive.
SEW Eurodrive DRE motor family provides high efficiency, 1-300 hp; premium efficiency DRP motors, 1-50 hp. |
SEW Eurodrive high-efficiency DRE motors are available from 1 hp to 300 hp, and Premium Efficiency/IE3 (NEMA Premium) DRP motors range from 1 hp to 50 hp, to meet international energy efficiency standards. The compact 4-pole ac motors, with copper or aluminum die-cast rotor cage, can be integrated into SEW gearmotors or used as stand-alone motors or in decentralized control architectures. The 60 Hz motors integrate an encoder into the fan (rather than at the end of the motor) to help achieve a compact footprint, reduce cost and complexity, and make retrofits easier. The motors comply with international values and standards for efficiency, often exceeding requirements of USA EISA 2007, Canada CSA C390, Europe CEMEP, Brazil NBR7094 and PROCEL, and Australia and New Zealand MEPS 2006.
Braking system allows three brake sizes to be used with one motor size. Since many applications don’t require full braking torque, the modular approach can provide cost and weight reductions. The brakes, mounted on a friction plate, can be removed for maintenance or resizing without motor disassembly. New input shaft assembly design makes for easier encoder changes. Several encoder types including sine/cosine, HTL, TTL, SSI, RS-485 and others are available.
The DRE and DRP motors extend the DR motor line, announced in October 2008, beyond previously available DRS type (standard motors), from 0.37 kW to 200 kW.

Case Study Database
Get more exposure for your case study by uploading it to the Control Engineering case study database, where end-users can identify relevant solutions and explore what the experts are doing to effectively implement a variety of technology and productivity related projects.
These case studies provide examples of how knowledgeable solution providers have used technology, processes and people to create effective and successful implementations in real-world situations. Case studies can be completed by filling out a simple online form where you can outline the project title, abstract, and full story in 1500 words or less; upload photos, videos and a logo.
