HIMA introduces safety PLCs with fast cycle times

HIMatrix series of safety-related controllers from HIMA are said to be among the fastest for process automation.

Safety-related controllers from HIMA feature fast cycle times and powerful communication options.

HIMatrix series of safety-related controllers from HIMA are said to be among the fastest for process automation. Six remote I/O modules for the series extend the range of possible solutions with fast cycle times (approximately 0.02 ms for 1K program), safety-related processing of analog values, and powerful communication options (safeethernet, Profibus, Modbus). They are certified up to SIL 3, Category 4 and AK 6 to IEC 61508, EN 954-1, and DIN V 19250 standards.

Controllers are designed for applications that do not need redundant safety systems, either because process availability is not critical or necessary redundancy already exists within the process. Typical uses include: safety-related telecontrol systems for pipelines; distributed automated pharmaceutical applications; BMS solutions for single and multi-burner systems; distributed, safety-related fire and gas systems; turbine control; and wellhead control.

Safety-related networking takes place on HIMatrix safeethernet. This fast safety bus, certified to TÜV/BG, transmits safety-related data to 100 Mbps and integrates the transmission of safety-related data into a standard Ethernet network, eliminating the need for a separate safety bus.
