HMI technology for water, wastewater needs

Municipal water packages from GE Fanuc Automation are designed for the water and wastewater industry. System combines Proficy HMI/SCADA-iFix, historian, and portal products in a variety of sizes to let users select the size of the system they need. Packages can be expanded by increasing the tag size of iFix or historian applications or adding portal clients as required.

"Operational costs are one of the largest problems water facilities face today," said Roy Kok, senior product manager, Proficy HMI/SCADA-iFix, adding that the package allows the use of all operational data gathered and stored to gain insight and make decisions needed to reduce energy and chemical costs.

Package includes:

  • Proficy HMI/SCADA-iFix : Scan-based operation is suited to applications requiring consistent performance and known response times. Process automation, particularly in regulated industries, says the company, must be able to depend on the quality of their data and operator audit trails to maintain tight control. The system provides process visualization, data acquisition, and supervisory control. Based on client/server distributed and open architecture, it integrates with existing operations.

  • Proficy historian : Robust, effective plant data repository collects, archives, and distributes large volumes of real-time, plant floor information and can read all types of process data.

  • Proficy portal : Web-based overview of key metrics is intended to boost efficiency. Trending and reporting capabilities use the historian's data storage abilities.
