Houston, Tex. - Industrial Data Systems (IDS) Corp. announced April 30 that it will consider a plan to change its name to "ENGlobal" at its annual stockholders meeting on June 6. In conjunction with the proposed renaming, IDS has already reserved and plans to use the "ENG" stock symbol, which is also expected to be easier to identify along with its new name.

IDS says its new name will also help identify the capabilities and strengths of both IDS and Petrocon Engineering, in the wake of their recent merger. "ENGlobal" was chosen to communicate the core engineering (ENG) disciplines that the newly combined companies were built on, while also reflecting the wider range of services available due to their combined strengths. Following expected stockholder approval of the renaming, the company expects that its subsidiaries will initially couple the new, more descriptive ENGlobal name with their existing name, and then gradually migrate to the new name.

IDS, soon to be ENGlobal, is a provider of engineering services and engineered systems principally to the pipeline and process industries throughout the U.S. and internationally. Its multi-disciplined staff develops projects from the initial planning stage through the detailed design, procurement, and construction management stages. Manufactured products include automation and control systems, conditioned power systems and HVAC equipment. IDS is the parent of nine wholly-owned operating subsidiaries: Petrocon Engineering Inc., IDS Engineering Inc., RPM Engineering Inc., Petrocon Construction Resources Inc., Petrocon Systems Inc., Triangle Engineers and Constructors Inc., Petrocon Engineering of Louisiana Inc., Constant Power Manufacturing Inc. and Thermal Corp.
