IMTS 2004: Baldor all stainless-steel servo motor

Just announced by Baldor Electric Co., its SSBSM Series of all stainless-steel brushless servo motors had their first showing at IMTS 2004 in Chicago in September.

Stainless-steel construction extends to power and feedback connectors to mitigate corrosion in Baldor’s new SSBSM Series servo motors.

Just announced by Baldor Electric Co. , its SSBSM Series of all stainless-steel brushless servo motors had their first showing at IMTS 2004 in Chicago in September. The new servo motor family was designed for durability. Ability to handle IP67 environments and high-pressure (1,500 psi) washdowns, allows application of these motors in harsh, corrosive food/liquid, and high-hygiene environments.

SSBSM Series servo motors are available in five frame sizes and generate continuous torques up to 280 lb-in. (32 Nm)—with peak torques ranging two to four times continuous ratings. Motors come in low inertia models to provide for optimal inertial matching in machines, as well as in standard inertia models. They carry UL, CSA CE, and BISCC agency approvals.

Users have a choice of encoder, absolute encoder, or resolver as the feedback device. An integral laser-etched nameplate extends the washdown and easy cleaning design. Typical applications for these motors include food and liquid processing, packaging, pharmaceutical, beverage/dairy handling, and personal care. SSBSM Series motors are slated for January 2005 availability.
