(Palo Alto, CA) has acquired exclusive rights to absolute encoder technology from Optolab Microsystems AG (Erfurt, Germany), a supplier of optoelectronic solutions. While its motion control products already include absolute encoders, Agilent plans to introduce new encoders later this year, based on Optolab's technology for use in industrial automation applications.
GE Fanuc Automation North America Inc. (Charlottesville, VA) acquired Ramix Inc. (Ventura, CA), a supplier of embedded computing connectivity, storage, and memory solutions for defense, aerospace, telecommunications, medical equipment, and other industries, to increase its capabilities with new products and grow its $9-billion industry segment. GE Fanuc will combine Ramix's product lines with its present offerings to create an embedded systems group to be headquartered in Huntsville, AL.
