Manufacturing Data Systems Inc. (MDSI, Ann Arbor, Mich.) has created a digital device driver for MDSI's OpenCNC software CNC to support the Yaskawa Mechatrolink digital communications network from Yaskawa Electric Corp. NetSilicon Inc. (Waltham, Mass.) and Jumptec (Deggendorf, Germany) announced a joint effort May 1 to bring diskless operation to embedded PCs.

  • NetSilicon Inc. (Waltham, Mass.) and Jumptec (Deggendorf, Germany) announced a joint effort May 1 to bring diskless operation to embedded PCs. Jumptec's WebasDisk system will be network-enabled by NetSilicon's Net+Works integrated platform.

  • In an effort to become a top-five worldwide e-business service and solutions provider, Siemens Business Solutions (SBS, Rye Brook, N.Y.) announced May 1 that it's combining its North American operations on June 1 with Entex IT Service, which SBS acquired on April 1.

  • Verticore Technologies (Salt Lake City, Ut.) recently introduced version 1.2 of its Verticore Productivity Solution (VPS), which is operational effectiveness software that institutionalizes best practices in manufacturing.

  • STMicroelectronics (Geneva, Switzerland) launched on May 3 a 512-Kbit, flash memory IC with sequential and random read operation; page mode programming; sector and bulk erase modes; and a 20 MHz SPI-compatible serial bus.
