The Foxboro Co. (Foxboro, Mass.) will provide field instrumentation, I/A Series control systems, and associated services for an expansion project at the Aracruz Celulose eucalyptus pulp mill in Espirito Santo, Brazil. Foxboro will also implement advanced process control solutions for continuous pulping, washing, oxygen delignification, bleach plant, evaporators, and causticizing at the $620 million, 780,000 tons-per-year capacity mill.
Red Hat (Research Triangle Park, N.C.) announced Oct. 30 that it's working with Square D Co.'s Power Management Organization (LaVergne, Tenn.) to design Internet-based power management solutions built on Red Hat's embedded Linux software.
Nematron Corp. (Ann Arbor, Mich.) introduced Oct. 24 two additions to its e-Series control computer line—ICC-600e with a 12.1-in. TFT display and ICC-800e with a 15-in. TFT display. Both are equipped with touch-only controls for users requiring an industrial PC without an integral keypad.
Cimetrix Inc. (Salt Lake City, Ut.) and Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. (Alpharetta, Ga.) on Nov. 6 announced a broad licensing and reselling agreement combining Siemens' IEC 61131 programming products with the Cimetrix Windows NT-based motion control software. Cimetrix' OEM customers will now be able to offer PC-based robots and mechanisms programmed using the popular IEC 61131 PLC style programming products.
