Indicator lights extend sensor status view

By Control Engineering Staff October 18, 2005

Sensors generally are smaller and can be located, in many cases, closer to the process. Indicator lights on the sensors may be hidden from view as a result. Banner Engineering’s EZ-Ligh t indicator lights can be used for remotely indicating sensor status where placement or distance of a sensor on or in a machine or on a production line can limit sensor visibility. EZ-Light offers a bright, easy-to-see, 2-color indicator light that mimics a sensor’s own indicators, providing clear, visual status of the sensor. Compatible with all sensor types and brands (including photoelectric, proximity, ultrasonic and other sensors), the indicator integrates seamlessly into new and existing applications by connecting the sensor with a “Y” splitter cable.

They are available in models with nickel-plated brass 18-mm barrels or thermoplastic 18- and 30-mm T-style right-angle models. The 10-30V dc device accepts NPN or PNP output directly from the sensor. Green light indicates power on; yellow indicates output energized. For more on this product from Control Engineering, also see “1 indicator, 7 light/flash functions”
