Indie Energy forms partnership with USGBC
Indie Energy and U.S. Green Building Council have joined forces to put together an open platform for real-time building data and energy apps designed for energy-efficient buildings.
Indie Energy announced a technology partnership with U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), creators of the LEED green building program and LEED Online. The partnership brings together the first open platform for real-time building data and third-party Energy Apps on the Indie Energy Network with LEED Online, the software platform that manages the LEED green building certification process.
"Our partnership with Indie Energy allows us to use an open source technology platform that will integrate the LEED certification process with real-time data and third-party applications for M&V and ongoing commissioning," said Mahesh Ramanujam, COO, U.S. Green Building Council.
Organizations already developing Energy Apps for the Indie Energy Network include Kiewit Building Group, Gannett Fleming, Ygrene Energy Fund, Building Momentum Group, Energy Center of Wisconsin, WMA, and the US Business Council for Sustainable Development.
"Cleantech Group's analysis of the building energy efficiency market suggests that engineering companies, integrators, and capital sources need an open, global system of secure and real-time building data and applications. Indie Energy's move to provide an open source platform for building data and applications with Energy Apps and its Indie Energy Network is the kind of technology that can help address this need," said Josh Gould, Director Research & Advisory Services of Cleantech Group.
The Indie Energy Network enables performance-based energy efficiency with an open platform for Energy App developers worldwide. The system hosts real-time building data and smart analytics, controls, and optimization to prove and improve performance of both new and existing buildings. The Energy App Exchange provides an easy-to-use application framework and an open market for integrated applications such as Measurement & Verification, Ongoing Commissioning, Certification, Facilities Management, and Renewable Resource Optimization.
"By integrating LEED Online with the Indie Energy Network and Energy App Exchange, we have extended the first open global platform for secure, real-time building data and applications so that LEED projects may be more easily and accurately certified and re-certified," said Daniel Cheifetz, Indie Energy CEO. "Providing the best engineering and service organizations in the world with a truly open platform for live building data and applications will jumpstart the delivery of high-impact, performance-based energy efficiency measures for the built environment," Cheifetz added.
