A variety of industrially hardened Ethernet products and resources were introduced recently by Automation Direct, Beckhoff Automation, Cirronet, Cisco, Electro Standards Laboratories, Moxa Technologies, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, and Tyco Electronics. Trends in these products include lower prices, more compact form factors, greater reliability, and faster speeds.

Two new Rockwell Automation EtherNet/IP module options provide ControlLogix users with the increased performance or capacity needed from their networks.

Industrial Ethernet product introductions include:

Affordable wireless Ethernet for industrial applications : AutomationDirect offers Cirronet’s wireless frequency-hopping radio modems for Ethernet.

Industrial Ethernet switches, streamlined, 8 or 16 ports : Beckhoff Automation’s CU2008 and CU2016 Ethernet switches have an optimized housing design that costs 16% less than earlier models.

Resources for industrial Ethernet: Four sections of the manufacturing section at the Cisco Systems Inc. Website offer information about industrial Ethernet. The literature area includes case studies, white papers, articles, and videos. The company is based in based in San Jose, CA.

Industrial Ethernet Switch connects 1 RJ45 device with 6 others : Model 4426 RJ45 6-1 Switch System from Electro Standards Laboratories allows the user to share one common port RJ45 interface device among six other devices connected to A, B, C, D, E and F ports.

Telemecanique ConneXium IP67 Ethernet switch from Schneider Electric meets switching requirements for harsh environments.

Ring switches have fastest fault recovery : The latest Turbo Ring from Moxa Technologies Inc. sets a new world record for the fastest fault recovery within 20 millisecond in ring topologies; EDS-518A Series Industrial 16+2G-port Gigabit Managed Redundant Ethernet Switches provides two combo gigabit ports with built-in RJ45 or SFP ports for gigabit optic communication.

Copper, fiber EtherNet/IP module uses rugged Intel chip : Rockwell Automation says two new EtherNet/IP module options provide ControlLogix users with the increased performance or capacity needed from their networks.

IP67 Ethernet switch stores, forwards, checks : Telemecanique ConneXium IP67 Ethernet switch from Schneider Electric is industrially rugged and meets switching requirements for harsh environments.

Keying enables secure Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet : The RJ45 Secure connector system from Tyco Electronics Amp Netconnect business unit is a jack and plug connector system that features mutually exclusive keys for restricted access to network connection points.
