Elpro Technologies’ high-sensitivity, 240U-E industrial WiFi Ethernet offers easy setup and troubleshooting for worldwide applications. It is backed by a lifetime warranty.

Elpro Technologies has released its 240U-E industrial WiFi Wireless Ethernet device—usable as an access-point/client, bridge, or router—is backed by a lifetime warranty. The 802.11b/2.4GHz-DSSS-based unit is aimed at the process and automation sectors, offering a range up to five miles line-of-sight in North America and 1 km in Europe. For industrial environments, the range is approx 100 m (300 ft) through buildings, factory walls, and steelwork. Integral repeater capability is claimed to boost operating range further. It is designed to meet worldwide regulations, allowing 300 mW or 100 mW RF-power output and operating from a 9-30 V dc supply. It is claimed to offer excellent sensitivity at–96 dBm.


Configuration is accomplished with a Web-browser. And Elpro claims an extensive list of diagnostics features to ensure fast commissioning and fast trouble-shooting. Configuration and diagnostics of remote units is possible via the wireless link, easing installation. Features include: data rates to 11Mb/s; military-grade 128-bit AES and WEP encryption; firewall protection via message filtering at MAC address level; RS-232 and RS-485 serial-ports; and a discrete contact I/O channel for alarm transfer. The unit’s operating environment spans –35 to 65 oC and humidity to 99%.
