Instrumental to the workplace: Products, services, gain approval, accreditation

Several instrumentation-related products and services have acquired approvals and accreditations recently.

Several instrumentation-related products and services have acquired approvals and accreditations recently. Among those adding certifications or designations to their names are a multigas detector from MSA Instrument Div ., level switches for liquid applications from Krohne Inc. , and calibration service center operated by Fluke Corp .

Solaris multigas detector from MSA Instrument Div. is ATEX and CSA approved.

Solaris multigas detector from MSA Instrument Div. is now approved by both ATEX (European) and CSA (Canadian) for intrinsic safety. The device is already UL approved for Class I, Div. 1, Groups A, B, C, and D and is certified compliant with ISO 9001 provisions. The detector simultaneously monitors up to four gases, including O2, CO, H2S and combustible gas. It includes a fresh-air setup safeguard, rubberized armor housing for impact protection, and an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance. It may be equipped with a universal pump probe to perform remote sampling and may be used with up to 50 ft of tubing.
LS 5000 Series level switches for liquid applications from Krohne Inc. are FM-approved. They are designed for food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial applications. Switches feature simple set-up without adjustment and integrated fault monitoring. Tuning fork’s piezoelectric elements are fastened mechanically and are insensitive to temperature shock. Its 1.5 in. (40 mm) length makes it well suited for confined spaces, such as pipelines of 1-in. diameter and greater. Series comes in short and extended versions and is approved for explosion-proof, intrinsically safe, dust-ignition-proof, non-incendive, and hazardous (classified) indoor/outdoor locations.

Calibration service center at Fluke Corp. ’s Everett, WA, location is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025-1999 standard set by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This designation ensures that the center can provide a full range of calibration services that have passed A2LA certification. ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for laboratory accreditation and was first released in December 1999. Jorge Martins, recently appointed technical manager of the service center’s laboratory said, "Accreditation means that we can document that high-quality standards are being met, providing the confidence our customers demand when they send their equipment in for service or calibration."
