Hillsboro, Ore. —DriveBlok, a family of integrated drives for ac induction and PM brushless motors (1-20 hp), has added a velocity-servo operating mode. The new feature, called “SensorlesServo” velocity control, virtually eliminates speed-loop latencies, says the company. A software algorithm calculates rotor position information from voltage and current measurements, without a feedback sensor. Then, a PID servo loop acts on the position data to regulate speed. This version of DriveBlok enables 4-quadrant speed and torque control. wInControl software tool (Microsoft Windows 95/NT-based) handles set-up of motor parameters and I/O points, as well as runs the system and monitors its performance. www.semipower.com .
