International Manufacturing Technology Show 2004 highlights

The latest edition of the bi-annual International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2004 on Sept. 8-15 at McCormick Place included exhibits featuring thousands of useful products and services, such as:

Faro Technologies Inc. has released two inexpensive versions of one of its most popular coordinate measurement machine (CMM) solutions. Gage and Gage-Plus give small machine shops many 3-D measurement capabilities not currently available with less advanced quality control methods. Faro adds it has the most market share in the portable CMM field. Gage and Gage-Plus were designed to be convenient and intuitive enough for shop-floor personnel to produce faster, more accurate results.

GE Fanuc Automation Americas Inc. introduced its Proficy 2.1 real-time information portal, which is a new version of the company’s plant-wide analysis, visualization, and reporting software, which allows users to gain business insight in real time. GE Fanuc reports that Proficy 2.1 supports better, faster decision-making with a common client that scans applicable data sources. This can help production, IT, and business users analyze trends and statistical deviations, and drive quality and continuous improvement.
