ISA 2002: Smar Research debuts HART-compatible modems

Chicago, IL — Smar Research Corp. (SRC, Holbrook, NY) introduced Oct. 22 its new HT2015 chip-level HART modem at ISA 2002 at McCormick Place.

Chicago, IL - Smar Research Corp . (SRC, Holbrook, NY) introduced Oct. 22 its new HT2015 chip-level HART modem at ISA 2002 at McCormick Place. The modem is part of Smar Research's line of HART modems that are currently supplied to leading HART instrument manufacturers. HT2015 is scheduled to begin shipping in early 2003. SRC is an international supplier of HART, Fieldbus and Profibus technologies. Smar Research reports that HT2015 fills a significant niche for HART instrument manufacturers, according to Basilio Selli, SRC's managing director. ''HT2015 can be used in all designs presently using the SYM20C15 chip, giving current users of that chip a viable option,'' says Mr. Selli. ''The HT2015 meets all HART physical layer requirements, and is optimal for intrinsically safe applications.''

SRC adds that HT2015 consists of a single-ship, half-duplex, 1,200-bps FSK modem, which has Bell 202 shift frequencies of 1,200 Hz and 2200 Hz; a 3.3-5.0 V power supply; transmit-signal wave shaping; receive band-pass filter; low power for intrinsically safe applications; CMOS compatibility; an internal oscillator requires 460.8 kHz crystal or ceramic resonator; an internal temperature range of -40 C to 85 C; and is available in 28-pin PLCC and 32-pin LQFP packages.
