ISA announces electronic certification testing


Research Triangle Park, NC —Three ISA (Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society) certification exams will be offered electronically and will be available at test sites globally in 2006. The tests are Certified Automation Professional (CAP), Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), and Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (CIMM).

ISA will use Thompson Prometric global network of testing centers, hundreds of which are located around the world. Candidates must still meet the eligibility requirements, complete the application, and take the exam in a proctored environment in a testing center.

Electronic testing will use a secure delivery network. It will feature:

  • State-of-the-art testing technology providing current industry standards and fast test score reporting;

  • An established network of highly secure testing centers that ensure a professional and consistent test experience; and

  • Certified, professional, and experienced proctors to provide a seamless test experience for candidates and ensure exam security.

The centers provide testing services to candidates in a consistent environment. All labs are identically furnished; number of workstations ranges from six to 19 per lab. Although electronic testing makes the certification process faster and easier, it will necessitate all exams be “closed book” as of Jan. 1, 2006.
