HEC-1000 harsh environment controller from Divelbiss has a sealed, waterproof enclosure and connection system to provide for control in less-than-ideal situations.

Fredericktown, OH and Houston, TX —HEC-1000 harsh environment controller from Divelbiss Corp ., introduced earlier this month at ISA Expo 2006 in Houston, is based on PLC-on-a-Chip technology. It features a sealed, watertight enclosure with pluggable connectors that is said to allow for programmable intelligence under less than ideal conditions. Standard enclosure is submersible to 3 ft and is screw and sub-plate mountable. HEC-1000 is programmed using Divelbiss EZ Ladder software, which supports ladder diagram and function block programming.

Controller offers 12 to 26.4-V dc input power. I/O connections include 10 to 32-V dc inputs; two 40-kHz high-speed counters; two 10-bit resolution 0 to 20 mA dc analog inputs; and PWM/digital outputs rated to 3 A with automatic over-current safety and programmable status monitoring for each. Network connection is made through two CAN ports, one a dedicated J1939. Controller also has a real-time clock with skip-a-day capability that allows the program to handle hour, minute, second, month, day, year, and day-of-week.

Typical industrial applications include control for engine-driven pumps and compressors, mobile asset management and tracking, intelligent mining or oil field equipment, and conveyor systems. It is particularly suited for unattended equipment and washdown areas.
