It’s time to start living my earnings
By the time you read this, I’ll have begun my retirement. Yeah, I know, many of you are saying, "Oh, he’s much too young to retire." Thanks, you’re very kind.

I was 26 when I entered the world of process control as a "green as grass" field service engineer for Bristol Instruments. When I review the evolution of process control during the past 35+ years, I can’t imagine another career that would have provided more mental stimulation, introduced me to more interesting people, and permitted me to earn a better living than this one.
Though I’ll be spending more time with my parents, wife, kids, grandkids, church, dog, and golf clubs, I’m not completely leaving this industry. From time-to-time you will see my name on an article in Control Engineering ; but now it’s time to start living my earnings.
Wishing you and yours the very best in 2004 and beyond.
