JMP Engineering Inc. announced strategic acquisition of Soft Design Automation Inc. (SDA), a Brampton based industrial engineering firm known for providing system integration services for more than 20 years to customers in the greater Toronto area (GTA). SDA was established in 1985 and since then has successfully designed, programmed and commissioned a variety of machines and equipment for customers around the world, JMP noted in the May 12, 2010, announcement.

Scott Shawyer, President, CEO, JMP EngineeringJMP has continued to expand geographically in Canada and the U.S., building capability in new sectors and adding new lines of business over the past five years. “Acquisition of SDA marks another milestone in our 30 year growth strategy,” says Scott Shawyer, president and CEO of JMP.  “JMP’s Vaughan branch office along with SDA will continue providing controls, automation and information solutions to our customers in the Toronto area with the same high standards of service and commitment they’ve come to expect.”

JMP and SDA management expects the transition to be seamless and quick for customers and employees and said they expect to benefit from the other’s strengths. Integration also establishes a stronger local presence in the GTA. SDA clients will gain access to new lines of industrial automation products, flexible automation solutions for material handling and packaging, mechanical engineering, information solutions (including MES, OEE and energy management) and the access to more global resources and expertise available from a CSIA Certified multi-branch company. JMP clients will benefit from access to even more skilled resources in the Toronto area with long term experience and expertise in food and beverage, power generation, transportation, pulp and paper, pharmaceuticals, mining, plastics, water treatment, and petrochemical industries.

JMP Engineering says it delivers world class automation, control and information solutions that enhance manufacturing and production performance through branches in Ontario, Texas, Pennsylvania and with 100 professionals. JMP Engineering is a CSIA Certified System Integrator (Control System Integrator Association), providing services to the food and beverage, life sciences, environmental, automotive, CPG, military, recreation, chemical and metals industries. JMP’s capabilities were recognized last year as recipients of Control System Integrator of the Year – Control Engineering, Packaging Integrator of the Year – Packaging Digest, Microsoft Impact Award for Data Management Solutions, Business Achievement Award Human Resources category - London Chamber of Commerce.

Soft Design Automation Inc. from Brampton, near Toronto, Canada, said it is a progressive company specializing in industrial controls and machine automation.
