Avnet Applied Computing Solutions and CTX Technology Corp . have formed a new relationship designed to expand CTX products into the industrial computing market. Under the agreement, Avnet will offer CTX’s industrial flat panel products to OEMs, independent software providers, and value-added resellers focused on embedded computing solutions. Applications requiring industrial-quality displays include kiosks, medical, military/government, point-of-sales, and hospitality.

Among factors driving the decision is a report from market intelligence firm iSuppli Corp. that the industrial/financial/digital signage markets for large-size (greater than10-in.) TFT liquid crystal displays in North America are projected to reach $394 million in 2005, and grow to $578 million by 2007. To meet growing demands for these products, Avnet will offer CTX products including 16:9 video monitors; chassis monitors; digital signage LCDs; and panel, rack, and rear-mount LCDs.

Avnet also provides technical and engineering services to support development of applications using industrial LCDs. Demanding industrial environments require a unique set of requirements, said Michael Gaeta, Avnet’s vice president of enabling technologies, adding that CTX products provide ruggedized, cost-competitive products that meet the growing demand for specialized embedded computing solutions.
