Manufacturers of keyboards and keypads are enhancing their businesses by offering other allied input technologies, a recent release from VDC Corp . reports. The evolution of the ''enhanced offering'' supplier is changing the makeup of the competitive environment, VDC analysts observe. Touchscreens are a popular offering, as are other componentry or electronics, electromechanical switches and panels, and flex circuits.

OEMs are less likely to swap out keypad interfaces with more expensive touchscreen technologies than to add the technology to enhance current product offerings. OEMs are also looking for one-source shopping, increasingly seeking the keypad vendor that can do it all at one time. Click here for more on this topic.
